I got a 03 tacoma prerunner 3.4 V6 that has a grinding/slipping sound coming from somewhere down in the tranny area from dead stop until about 3000-3500 RPM's. It doesn't do it once it's in 2nd gear.
I first noticed it when I was towing a trailer (16') that had some weight and I got on the go pedal. That was about a month back. Didn't notice anything when I was empty until a few days ago. Now its really makes a fuss when I drop the trailer on even when its empty.

Can anybody tell me what I'm looking at here? Transmission? Torque Converter? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Dan
