I live in a farming region. It's hard for bros in a lifted Ram to get all full of themselves when the road is littered in lifted Diesels being driven by 70 year old men and soccer moms.

I've lived near detroit for a bit over a year now, home of the "Big 3"... AKA Big Cheap. I've come out to my Tacoma before to find a flyer telling me I should "Buy American!" People give me grief all the time because I own a "foreign" vehicle. Little do these ignorant folk realize just how imported their "American" cars are. CNN had a recent article showing just how much more "American made" the Toyota is than a Big 3 product.

I'm an outcast here because I drive a "foreign"... My truck also isn't broken down on the side of the road or full of rust.

In my experience, cummins aren't fast. Just a lot of torque. I've driven some modified ones that have some get-up-and-go, but I wouldn't doubt that a healthy Tacoma would be a bit faster in accel. After all, those trucks are really heavy. My Tacoma has a fair bit of jam.

got a lot of this on the beach this weekend, until a dodge needed to be pulled out. i came from driving a gmc 2500hd diesel to a tacoma ...and other than just towing capacity, it will outdo anything the gmc could do

I've owned a beautiful Ram Hemi. And I've never acted in any of the ways you described. Traded it in for a lowered Lexus with a teeny tail that can knock the socks off of the Ram. But I don't need to prove it to anyone because I don't have a small penis. As a matter of fact, I don't even HAVE a penis.

Well, if people are looking for maximum acceleration and 0-60 times, they aren't going to be looking for a truck.

The past month, prior to deciding on another Tacoma, I had test driven all of the brands at dealers in my area. I did not test drive the Cummins diesel, however. I have no interest in it.

Based on my impressions and reccolections of things like acceleration and feeling of power when driving the various models, I wouldn't call the stock Tacoma V6 a powerhouse. Nice acceleration and decent power in this class when empty, but far short of a powerhouse in terms of comparisons to everything out there in the truck world.

Actually, based on my subjective impressions, I would say the Nissan Titan felt like it had the most low-end torque and seemed to be quickest off the line going on the freeway. It has a very sensititve throtle response. But ithe power seemed to max out very quickly compared to the others and I did not care for the truck at all. I hated the interior, the cabin was noisy, and lots of rattling.

In terms of overall raw power, I felt the Tundra 5.7 and RAM HEMI were on equal footing and if I wanted and needed a fullsize, I would choose between these two. The Ford F-150 Ecoboost had signifigant turbolag on the highway like my old Forester XT. The Chevy Silverado felt like my grandfathers old truck. Neither good nor bad. Just there.

I hate to say it, too, but the Nissan frontier seemed to have better acceleration than the Taco. But like the Titan, I could not get past the spartan interior and clangs and creaks.

My truck proves itself offroad. big lifted fancy hummers H2 and H3 can barely make it to where my truck goes with Good tired and 12 Psi. no way youd see a fullsize pickup getting to where i go. In fact, my friend wheels his 03 dodge 2500 hemi. It does ok, but nothing like a Toyota offroad.
