hid in fogs

can someone point me to the direction on how to install hid fogs in an 05 prerunner?

 

does it have fogs already? if so, same as replacing a light bulb or putting hid's in the headlights, most of the kits are plug and play, you just need to find a place to mount your ballasts, i just doubleside taped mine to the inside of the bumper, and zip tied some of the cords together for added security

 

I had a set of 35w ballasts when I upgraded to 50w projector headlights. So I decided to order some H10 HIDs from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Zenex-4300K-Xenon-Bulb-White/dp/B002O4TGLE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1334793409&sr=8-5

These bulbs plug right into the factory fog housing. The AMP connectors connect to the ballasts & factory fog power connector. No wiring harness to mess with. You just have to figure out how to mount the ballasts.

I chose to zip tie the excess wiring and ballasts to the body frame/under carriage to keep it clean. It's been a few months so I should go underneath to see if everything is still solid after the winter.

Some may say that's going to blind people. But these are not nearly as intense or scattered as HIDs in factory headlamp housing. They do throw a nice circle of light. When turned on in combination of my 50w projectors (5000K), they are a great combo with intense light within 5 feet in front of the truck. But with a car length of distance, it's not blinding to cars in front or from opposite direction.

 

On the highway, what possible use do you have for intense light 5 feet in front of the truck? It's more harm than good, really. I can understand on a low-speed nasty trail, but not on the roads. You're going too fast for it to be useful.

The HIDs in the fogs are worse than in the factory headlamp housing, because the headlamp housing has that little glare shield over the bulb. The fog lights don't have that. Either way, it's a bad plan, but that never stops anyone.
