Hey, names Cory and I just bought a 2011 Tacoma in November. Its a 6 speed manual, TRD off road double cab. When I first bought the truck it was great. Then after my first oil change I noticed that there was a vibration between 60-70 mph and again at 80. I thought it was tire balance so I took it in for that and rotation but I still have it. I know there are threads regarding vibration but most are due to lift kits or older trucks. Mine is bone stock, but I did read a post about someone saying the BFG rugged trails are a crap tire because of hard spots and just overall performance of the tire. Would that show up on the balancing machine or just when they are on the truck? The dealerships response is this is normal and by reading threads on here I am starting to believe it is. I am very picky about my vehicles and this is bugging the hell outta me. Any info would be great!

Have you tried having someone other than the dealership balance and re-mount the tires? It was fine until your first oil change? Did a weight accidentally get knocked off? What have you tried so far to pin point the vibration?

Also, you should move out of the New Members forum and post in the 2nd gen forum. You'll potentially get a better response.

It has been in 4 times, but I am tired of wasting the gas to drive there and then be out of a vehicle. They say they cant reproduce the symptom thats when they said it was normal. I am curious if anyone had the issue and if it went away with new tires. How do they determine if the tires have hard spots?

In where? Dealership or another reputable tire place?

The dealership is just going to drive your truck and see if they feel anything. If they're telling you they can't reproduce it, take it somewhere else. Most 60-70 vibes are caused by poorly balanced tires. Did you do a visual inspection for weights on each tire?

    The better coast
You should take them for a drive and show them yourself. That's what people do for the rear spring TSB.

They're supposed to/ might have rotated the tires at the 5k oil change. So if it started after that - i'd definitely suspect a tire balance issue.

Might be worth your while to have the tires "road force balanced" at America's Tire if there's one near you. That'll cost you a few bucks, but worth it if your truck stops bothering you.

So far just the dealership. Figured they woudl do or use the road force balancer. The weights are there. Its not a huge vibration but I can definately feel it in the wheel and in the seat. I think i will try a tire shop. I heard that there is some special attachment hub or something for our wheels? Any input on that?
