Definitely. You can include most of the OEMs, along with Hella, Sylvania, Osram, GE, etc. Philips does tend to make the best HID bulb, though. I think Koito makes some of Toyota's ballasts, too, and they should be good. I'd prefer Denso though.

Maybe we can just start gluing D2S bulbs in the factory reflector, since most people won't bother with projectors but still want "good stuff".

Hell, D2R bulbs are made for HID "reflector" systems, so maybe we should glue those in, instead! :D

It's the OEM equipment on Toyota's and Lexus's equipped with an HID system.

They make H4 to D2S/R adapters. It corrects the beam better than a H4 standard bulb. I did this to my 2000 tundra and it worked perfect. Same beam as stock but with a HID bulb.

I highly reccomend going with OEM equipment (denso ballast, phillips bulb 4100k, and h4 to d2s adapters) the only downfall to this set up is that you lose your high beam.

I've got the ddm tuning bi-xenon setup and they have been fantastic. Ran a set on my Acura MDX for 4 years with no issues as well. Just make sure you get the 6000k rating. That is a direct match for almost every oem hid lights out there.

I too have the DDM tuning HID hi/low kit. I went with the analog ballast kit. Had it for over a year now with zero issues.

I know everyone says to do the retrofit, and yes technically they are correct, but just make sure your lights are aimed correctly and you shouldn't really have a problem with blinding people. (except for the little BMW z3's that get a mirror full at a stop light :D).

Aiming them "correctly" in this case is improperly aiming the headlight thereby hindering the benefits of a HID system. You might as well stay with the stock halogen bulbs.

The bi-xenons that DDMTuning sells have the reflector on the bulb so they are NO MORE BLINDING THAN THE STOCK BULBS. Why do people insist that just because you do an HID kit you are blinding everyone. Yeah, if you're a moron you will but if you're a moron you likely don't care anyway.

If your headlights are aimed properly before and you add an HID kit similar to that pictured you're not going to be blinding people.

The shield helps but you are still putting a high intensity discharge system in a reflector housing designed for a halogen bulb.

Here's a good place to start:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/191480-hid-faq.html

    And here:
    http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html

You really can't bend the laws of physics with things like "I really really want it to work" and a non-calibrated Mark I Eyeball. Even if the lights aren't blinding someone, they aren't working optimally for the driver and cause more damage than you realize.

For example, most HID kits put out WAY too much foreground lighting, which makes a driver think they have awesome, super-duper lighting, but it generally just serves to make them distance-blind--which really sucks at interstate speeds.

The light patterns are generally not uniform, and are splotchy, whereas the OEM setup is uniform. The Chinese knock-offs are also unreliable. What happens if you lose your lights on a backwoods mountain curve?

Most people paint the reflector, because all of the light goes forward there is no use for the reflector housing anymore.

Are you talking about people doing a retrofit? I've seen painted reflectors for retrofits and that makes sense, but it would be counter-productive to paint the reflector with a PNP kit.

Well, it wouldn't be counter-productive for other motorists, because it would reduce the glare. :p

No, the best is without a doubt OEM. I'd wager anything PNP comes out of the same (maybe 1 or two) factories in China, just with different quality specs (if that). I've even seen stuff on HIDPlanet that says Morimoto bulbs don't compare to OEM bulbs.

Of course, you can't slap an OEM D2S bulb in a H4 headlamp too easily.

Morimoto I believe is TRS' brand so right there it is better than all the cheap ebay junk out there. Yes, Phillips bulbs and Denso or Matsushita ballasts are better than the Morimoto line but if you want to go with a decent setup without going balls out then Morimoto will be a good option.

For the money you cant go wrong and yeah a 1000 dollar toyota original hid system is better but why spend more than you have too morimoto stuff is great for the price and i haven't had any issues and the 10 year warranty isn't bad either . but i agree with ya !!!
