The first time I did CPR while going through cna training I was badly shaken up by it and upset mainly because I snapped a few ribs in the process but later learned that it just happens. You've done alright by me in this situation. I believe that basic CPR/First Aid should be taught to all high schoolers. I would suggest that you pick up a mask and carry it with you, something like I've linked down below. What it comes down to is that you allowed a man to live his life and to see his family another day and to see his dreams come to fruition. Fuck the kids laughing. I know the first time a man went down in front of me like that in a restaurant, I had no clue what to do and just had to watch him go purple and I never wanted to have that feeling again or have to watch a family member, he was with his wife and kids, basically watch their loved one's die in front of them so long as I can help it.

I have one of these in every vehicle my family owns and an extra one in my school bag so I always have one with me. While saving a life is an amazing thing, potentially contracting herpes and vomit from another human being in your mouth is no fun. The collapse down to a very small package so there is no excuse to not carry it.

Great job and the kid that was laughing, it could have been him. A fist in the mouth would have worked for me. Don't worry your god or higher power took note of your selfless act of kindness to save another. Don't get down be proud that you were able to maintain a life. I'm sure that person will find out what you did and thank you for what you have done.

Great job man and happy birthday. The first step in that situation is early CPR, which is exactly what you did. Remember, it is "not the critic that counts, but the man who is actually inside the arena."

Great story...not what happened, but that you were there. His survival chance increased because you acted quickly...most people would not have been so fast to act. Most people don't even know what an AED is...

The American Heart Association says that your survival rate drops 10% every minute before CPR AND AED is used. If you use an AED within 6 minutes of cardiac arrest the survival rate is 80 - 85%. After 15 minutes, the survival rate is 5%.

I think learning CPR and AED should be mandatory for everyone...you never know when you might need to use it...or need it yourself.
