Rear end clicking while braking 2007 Tacoma

    Here is the scenario.
    New rear brakes shoes and hardware.
    Buffeted during normal stops so replaced rear wheel brake drums after discovering some flat spots too big to machine out.

    New brakes..new drums, all new hardware and now I get a clicking/metallic sound during stops.

    Mechanic says it is the leaf springs? banging on each other during stop sequence?
    I looked over the entire rear end...nothing obvious.

    What sayeth you? ideas? advice
