    Update...

I went over this morning to give them a last warning. Kind of a "do something now or I am calling the cops..." I'm sick of this $hit. It was pouring rain out and all I could still hear the dogs barking and whining.

So, what happened? The scumbags wouldn't answer the door! I could hear them in there with the TV on and laughing. I was going to leave them a note. When I got back to my apartment to get some paper. I said F it, I am done playing. Enough of this BS. I called Portland PD and they were there shortly after.

I don't know what happened. I am sure I will find out soon enough...

"This aggression will not stand, man"

Thanks again for all the input.

On a funnier note, my dad's recommendation was to move stereo speakers to the windows pointing at their place and play the dogs barking Jingle Bells at full blast, put on repeat then leave for work. I thought that would be hilarious!

if your truck gets scratched you'll know where it came from. better put a camera in your window facing your truck.

    +1 on this.

personally, my dog is my partner in making sure my kids are safe in their beds at night. if my dog were to not help me either by waking me up by barking or attack the intruder then i'd get rid of my dog and get one that will do the job. even a chihuahua can help prevent a burglary by waking me up with it's barking.

    HA HA HA!!!!

after reading all comments i see this didn't apply to anyone here, but i am in full agreement. people have turned dogs into frail versions of human beings. i find it pathetic, especially pet massage parlors, Coach bags to carry them in, etc.

    back to bone stock.
the poor barking dog is just fucking bored. i bet a single dose of exercise everyday would solve the problem.

sure we don't need that pit bull to wrestle cattle, or fight anymore. so it is just a pet. you get a dog, it comes with a whole mess of crappy responsibility.

that barking dog just needs a good long walk.

well then the dog needs to be taken away and put in a shelter until they can find suitable owners for it, and these people need to be barred from owning pets.

That was one of the first things I tried. I wanted to get the neighbors together, rally the troops a bit. The dogs drive them nuts too. No luck there though, most are creeped out by these guys and dont want to do anything or they no speakie the englais.

Onions and related plants like garlic weaken a dog's red blood cells. Can't remember which chemical in onions it is but one of them oxidizes hemoglobin, which destroys red blood cells. Dogs can become anemic and bruise/bleed easily as a result. Taken to extremes obviously that can kill the dog. Onions do the same thing to people, too but we're generally bigger than dogs and less susceptible to this particular problem so it takes a lot more onion to cause problems for us.

This is simply untrue. Keeping working dogs inside does not make them "lose their edge".

i think his more important point is that simply keeping a dog outside isn't abuse, provided it's not neglected.

Where do you think dogs stayed before we adopted them as pets - the luxury suite at Hotel Hilton, complete with an activity director?

Dogs are quite adaptable (which is why we adopted them as pets), able to live comfortably in a moderate size (depending on size of dog) backyard. Most rarely have much more in the wild, often spending months (during the winter, when other predators are around, etc) only short distances from their dens. An occasional outing or "job" is a treat.

Domesticated dogs often eat far better (without days or weeks of starvation between successful hunts) and are generally much healthier. Finally, with only minimal distraction (a view of passing cars or pedestrians, another dog or pet, etc), they really don't need an activity director to keep them entertained.

This is certainly not a defense of animal abuse or neglect, just instead a defense of normal pet ownership.

I wouldn't say untrue but I do agree it doesn't happen to them all. They tend to get comfortable just like people do then don't want to go as hard as dogs that don't get the luxury of a house, human bed, heater, AC, table scraps. My point was that most real working dogs are high energy/drive and simply aren't safely kept indoors while their owner goes to work for 8 or more hrs a day.

Once upon a time there was a bulldog that was very well behaved in the home until the people were gone. Tearing up and moving furniture across the home. Place in a crate in a spare room, again didn't exactly turn out as one would have hoped. Shredded crate and gums, broken door and blinds. You either give him something to do or he'll occupy himself. He was a great dog though. The point of the story is he was better off outside on a chain (He ate Hurricane fence) until the owners returned home and let him inside.
