parts and stuff
scosche isnt textured. plust the silver was brighter on mine then the rest of the dash while the scosche matched better at least until i painted it black :p

i put the yellow tabs on mine and it still fit like the OP. i know of other people around here that had the same fit issues with the metra and went with the scosche

Maybe the black Metra fits better than the silver? :notsure: mines black, both of yours are silver...

The metra. I will admit it might stick slightly out at the top, I'll have to check how much when I go out to the truck. But it's barely, and it's not loose.

Thanks for the picture... I like the way your kit fits.. looks sleek and snug.. did you keep the white clips that came with it or use the yellow stock clips from the radio?

IIRC, I think I used the yellow clips that were on the stock radio.

    Hey Everyone!

Darren here from Crutchfield. Wanted to pop in and lend you guys a few suggestions from my experiences with the Metra Tacoma kits. I had an 08 Tacoma with the Black kit, but we have customers all the time using the gray Metra kit. This is the first time I have heard of an issue like this on the Metra kits.

Here is the best tip I can give on this install. It’s important when installing the radio/bracket assembly to make sure that you leave the 4-10mm bolts loose, just gently snug them down. Next, install the kit with the clock/hazard switch installed. Make sure to snap the top in first, seating a good as it can. Next, reaching through the climate control opening, adjust/center the new radio/bracket assembly in the kit opening, snap the bottom portion of the kit into the dash. Next, adjust and center the radio/bracket one last time, and tighten all 4 - 10mm bolts down. Lastly, re-install the climate control panel.

This should help get the best fit of the kit into the dash. By centering the radio/bracket assembly in the dash, this allows the kit to seat properly, and all the clips to properly engage.

Hope this helps! Feel free to comment back and let me know!

Made some adjustments tonight. After Loosening, tightening, and moving the bracket around, I was able to get it to sit what is I think the best possible way this kit will fit. My buddy gave me some industrial double sided tape and I used a little bit on the underside where there was some rattle. Some I'm proud to say this issue is finally fixed! Thanks to all on TW for your help. Now.. onto the arm rest mod and wheels! Peace!
