If the problem is fixed look no further. The symptoms you are describing are the same as what I just saw a close friend go through with new wheels. He had a slight vibration in his truck. He had an alignment with road balancing, removed the front driveshaft, and tried several other things before he found a very minor flaw in the lip of one his new wheels. The wheels were fuel brand, I think. It was the wheel that took the most weight to balance and it was a minor defect near the lip edge of the wheel. I would spend some time inspecting the wheels, especially the ones that took the most weight to balance to search for flaws. The. Flaw had no scratches or marks on it, it was like a small crease in the metal. After talking to the shop that installed them he told us this was becoming more and more common. He also mentioned cracks in brand new wheels (mostly rock stars). Best of luck.

Yeah, there can be many sources of vibration. If the problem is fixed look no further.

I got my snow tires and steel wheels as a package online, and they came Roadforce balanced. Yet I got vibration. Took the wheels to a local Toyota dealer for simple dynamic balancing, and noticed the new weights are clocked about 90 deg from where the online shop installed them. The vibrations were gone.

Moral of the story? Not all tire shops are created equal. Some can balance tires better than others. I notice factory-balanced wheels/tires installed on new cars tend to be balanced the best, with the fewest weights.

good read, I just ordered some wheels that should've fit the truck with no issues...just looked at the bore size: 108mm...so i went ahead and ordered some rings...they weren't too expensive...and if the new wheels come with them, good, now i have a spare set...and if they don't...then i wont have to stare at my wheels for a week waiting for the rings...search button does miracles.

Make sure you get these too from wheelers. The shank under the acorn helps center the wheel on the lugs.

Great thread for a problem I also have. I have Black Rhino Imperial wheels and just started having steering wheel shimmy. Funny thing is it didn't start shimmy until after about 10k miles. The bore on these wheels is 112. I didn't see a 106 to 112 ring on the Gorrilla website. I'll have to call them and hope they have something. 6mm is quite a bit!

Do these rings need to be replaced every time you take off the wheel?

I'm putting on my rings this weekend to hopefully get rid of my vibrations. I have the exact same vibes as the OP.
