Dont know what it says on a first gen, but my manual said gl4 or gl5. So either should work in mine without any problems.

I used all Mobil 1 LS 75-90. in my diffs, transfer case and transmission. Couldnt find anybody with mobil 1 80-90. I'll get some ordered in next time in advance. Couldnt find enough 75-90 in one place either. I went to every stinking parts store in town probably twice cause nobody carries crap around here and if they do they dont have enough.

My front diff drain was hard to get off, but I put my allen wrench in and gave it a few light taps with the hammer and it broke loose.

Well, the fill hole is on the left side of xmission, so i was filling it from a higher, unknown hole above the drain plug. Go figure that the manual would show something different. All is well and it is serviced properly without mixing oils. GL4 provides non corrosive additives that won't dink up soft metals, such as those in a tranny. Later
