I came through last night. No traffic at all through NYC. A Little bit in Providence, RI, but not too bad. Got home about 10:30 last night.

I need to replace the air mattress. Any opinions on air mattress vs. cot vs. other type of sleeping pads?

My cot is great and I have had it for many years.

    The cons:
not good for a "couples night"
    heavy
    big
must keep mattress inside cab on rainy transport days

    Pro's:
    never "deflate"/last forever
off the ground (never wet) with plenty of space under for storage
    very comfortable
cool in summer (off ground ventilation) /warm in winter (off cold ground)
    no tools/pumps/electric needed

I have a couple of those sleeping pads and for car camping for a week they suck in just about every way especially in wet conditions should your tent leak at any time. If your hiking they are the ticket - anything else and they are worthless.

    :smack:

Pretty much exactly what I've been reading. I'm thinking I'll get a cot and use the old air mattress or get a new one whenever I manage to get a lady into my tent again. I was looking at a couple two person cots, but it seems they have bars in the middle so it's pretty much two cots next to each other.

    Any recommendation on cots?

When I get home Ill look mine up. It took me forever to find a good extra large one that was longer then 72" and could hold my fat ass weight.

 I have that, and it would be a bit much to take camping. It's hard enough to spin the damn thing around every once in a while.

I was looking at something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Byer-of-Maine...=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1337909119&sr=1-2

Packs up smaller, probably would end up adding a pad to it.

    looks good.

I'm weary of the plastic holding the legs together at the pivot points though - that's exactly where all my camp chairs break.

Meh, if I'm up off the ground who cares if there's holes in the floor.
