How Many Quarts?

    Hey guys...

    I have heard before 5.5 quarts is good when changing the oil on our trucks but I just want to be sure that is the correct amount. I noticed I was a tad low on oil when I started my oil change just now. I put in 5.5ish quarts and cant tell yet where I am at since the dipstick's reading is way off.

    Just want to know the exact amount we are suppose to be putting in our V6's.

    Lol what is an easy way to be accurate when I have my oil in 5 Quart jugs? I am always affraid I might poor to much and have heard that is terrible it can leak out of places etc.

    I use 1 5 qt jug, and 1 one qt bottle. I dump half of the 1 qt bottle in, then add the 5 qt jug. +/- a 1/4 qt isnt gonna hurt anything.

    A female friend of mine FILLED the oil in her lawn mower. Needless to say, Let there be SMOKE...I always add the 5qt and a half of the 1 qt. Then check it again. Nothing too scientific about it, just don't keep adding oil. A friend of mine, a guy this time thought he was low and added oil when he didn't need it. PCV was spewing oil, car ran like crud, turns out he was +2-3 qts. Just use your head!

    LOL! I was changeing the oil on my Dads Cat 416c and got to chatting, well, I was pumping from a bulk oil container, and was asking this friend of mine if he knew how much "these things" hold, just as he said "I dont know", Oil started flowing out of the fill port on top of the valve cover. :eek:
