That's awesome!!! I've used three in one hole before when i picked up a bolt some how. Didn't know it was there till my sister was driving my truck and I was following her and noticed sparks coming from the right rear tire!!! 20,000 miles or so later, plugs still holding up no problem. And to the guy that had it not work and almost wrecked, sorry for your misfortune but they probably didn't do it very good or pushed it in to far. (why does this thread keep sounding so dirty?) Anyway, if anyone wants advice on plugging a hole or if not a dude and want me to do it for ya, let me know! lmao

this is true WTF what i dont get is you are looking for two tires he pretty much gave you four tires for the price of two ($175 each http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...HR7HT840&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) and somehow the fourth wheel had a hole? its not like you got 3 tires with holes and 1 good tires you asked for 2 and got 3 whats the big deal use the 2 and spare the other 1? it seems like you making a big deal about it
dont ever buy used you clearly got screw over 3 times

First of all, I didn't know he was a 17 year old with no money.
Second, he never said as is, he said the look new with 4k on it.
Third, if he had stated that there were only 3 tires or two, I wouldn't pay $350 for 3 , or even $300 for 3.
Hey rich91710 do u want to buy the 3 tires for $ $300? You can have them to replace yours once the go bold, I'll even throw an extra tire with a nail, no extra charge for the nail

like the others said its pretty stupid that you did not inspect them you are kind of at fault and when you buy used stuff clearly they are selling as is...maybe you should stop being cheap and buy new tires you win some you lose some just saying give the kid a break man..

I would hold the seller acountable no matter who it is. And I see nothing wrong with buying tires used, as long as you're careful, something the OP wasn't.

the kid says on OPs post that he has rent and car payment clearly this kid has money issues and needed to sell the tires to get a monthly payment out of it just saying.. think about it you guys were 17 too you guys had bills you had to pay wheter is student loans, rent, etc. honestly i thnk its OPs fault for not chekcing before buying i personally inspect before i buy while seller stands there awkwardly if youre gonna be buying something you have to make sure its all good and the conditons you want it to be.. this kid even tries to give you 50$ back...

Put the 2 with more tread on the rear, and burn them off. Woot!! j/k. I got burned on a used yfz450 silencer... That was lame, but I also got a smoking deal on a set of paddles that are awesome. Private internet deals can go both ways. Pretty sad some people can screw others over and never even bat an eye.

I'm 17. Wanna know my secret to not having bills? Don't buy what you can't pay for. But in all fairness, the OP should share some of the blame. He should also get some money in return.
    This.

I'd buy one with 10k on it for $80, but they aren't my size.

One of the 4 on my 5-lug has a lot less tread than the rest... not sure what's up with that. Same brand, and it's a 2.7 and the trans is solid so I know the PO wasn't doing burnouts.

I don't understand how everybody thinks this kid is the only one that has bills. Do u know why I tried to buy used tires? Mortgage, car payment, paying my sister's education, food, etc. and believe me, I have a lot of damaged used stuff that I could sell to help pay my bills, but I'm not going to go against my principles and screw somebody over. After all, if they come back, I just give them a little money back and done deal. Wow great idea .....

    Sorry to hear this happened.
As far as the seller being a kid or has bills it doesn't really matter imo.

There are two sides of the street here.
The seller to present as honestly as possible the product for sale.
The buyer has the responsiblity to thoroughly check out the product.

The reason I say this is because I just sold 2 sets of tires on CL.
I presented & described them to the best of my ability.
But I am not a tire expert.
I offered to the buyers to meet at a tire shop to have them inspected.

One set of take offs Michelins from my tundra 800 miles $400.
Another set Goodyear Silent Armors 6k miles $600

I had paperwork showing mileage when both sets of tires were taken off the truck.
Both guys brought a small tool to measure tread depth & checked every inch of every tire making sure they were not cupped.
These tires were pristine. No rocks, curb rash, cuts, nails, or plugs.
    Especially no plasti dip.
Both sides of the transaction took responsiblity.
Hope it works out but honestly do not think the seller owes you anything..possibly one tire.

There you go. Ask for $90 back. If the OP was so concerned about having all his tread the same he should have bought new.

OP, you said in your post that "you were young once", so you should be old enough to know the risk of buying $350 in tires off a kid you don't know, especially when they show up "covered in plasti-dip and dog hair", without inspecting them with a fine tooth comb. Yep, he's a dousche for selling you a tire with a nail in it. Expensive lesson to learn. Guess you're never too old to learn a new one.

Post his name up so we can avoid him.

BTW - I sold my set of Dunlops with <10K miles with the factory steelies for $200. I don't value used tires very much. It's like buying a used pulley belt. Better to buy new.

I am not thinking that the kid sold the tires intentionally with a nail in it. OP says there were rocks and such in between the treads and the nail was found amongst them. A simple mistake, but it's a MISTAKE. He didn't see the nail, and it seems to me the kid didn't either. If he KNEW the nail was in there, he is taking a risk driving an hour to try to pull one over on someone.

If I were the one selling the tires, I would feel bad because someone indeed got a tire that is not usable. I would somehow find a way to take the tires back and return the money, even if I have to borrow it from a parent or relative. It's not like OP was trying to rip him off, he just wants four matching tires.

Yes, he's 17, pretty much still a kid and has bills. Yes, he is supposed to be responsible for it but it could be that the maturity has not brought that to face. Hopefully he sees this thread and thinks about what is happening here and tries to fix it.

I think he pretty much will, but he might be a bit upset because of the pressure of suddenly having to come up with replacement money, which might explain him telling OP with frustration that he's going to have to wait. It's not like he said "TOO BAD! Sales are final!!"

If you think about it, there is no fear in telling OP to eff off. Unless OP knows where the kid lives. But he didn't say that. He offered to pay him back...when he can.

So I think he will come through eventually. I don't think anything was really done wrong on ANYONE'S part, it's just that the nail wasn't seen by anyone through the pebbles and rocks.
