this is my first post on here and i'm looking for help.
I just bought a certified 08 tacoma access cab w47k mi. 3 weeks ago
i thought i just needed a little time to get used to manual again.
after 2 weeks it seems the same or worse?
seems like the clutch it getting hung up on occasion and when rolling slowly with clutch to floorboard you can feel it bump forward for a sec. through the whole truck when putting in 2nd gear.and when shifting up it catches for a sec lurching you forward because you haven't got on the gas because you haven't let clutch go. dealer had truck all day thr. cant find anything wrong they say. then had it on monday 4 hrs i waited there for nothing. they told me manager of service dept. was out driving truck and i walked behind bays and it was sitting right there. service writer tells "yes its funky but we don't have an exact truck to compare it to year make etc.to see if thats how its supposed to be??, and i don't see us finding one anytime soon to compare it to"
Now for the Q i see on here the trouble with throwout bearing and that they have changed it in 09. could a bad TO bearing damaged other parts to cause this?
feeling i need to return this truck b4 30 days....
    SAD and FRUSTRATED

I have seen posts similar to this before...

Here is one example, although not the specific one I remember seeing before:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/202033-6-speed-problems.html

I have a 2012 6-speed manual and so far (*knock on wood*) it drives great, but apparently some of the older ones have had issues with the manual transmission.

My advice? If it seems there is something wrong and the dealer/technician can't fix, I'd return within windows of opportunity to do so. Hopefully you'll be able to get this taken care of though.

I'd suggest more searching here. The 6 speed has been pretty thoroughly discussed and the issues are well known,......well, apparently to everyone but Toyota. Many of us that have kept our trucks have found ways to mitigate the trouble. Part of that is a relearning how to drive these trucks. It doesn't matter how many manuals you have driven.

My 2012 DC 4x4 Sport came with the "TRD Quickshifter" (or whatever it's called), and I find that shifting is quite smooth. That may make a difference.

I've owned several manual transmission vehicles in my life, but the last truck was an '86 4Runner. Shifting isn't as smooth as my old '91 MR2 Turbo, but that is to be expected, and it's definitely on par with most manuals I've driven.

    (oh, and Let's Go Mountaineers!)

the over rev. got/understand that. its the clunking chunking, does it every gear. as long as you kept foot on clutch it wouldn't do it. but once released clutch and engaged again it would clunk again. synchronizers?, TO?- seems to perhaps be worse once the vehicle has warmed. so from reading Threads i understand there is a or some aluminum parts. wouldn't they expand upon heating? changing specs? where it could then be hanging up?

I see what you're saying and I have that issue also...I've found that giving a little more gas before letting off the clutch helps
