Navigation Apps

This may have been covered already but I could not find any good information. I would like some input from people that use I-Phone apps for GPS and navigation. I dont really care about where the nearest coffee shop is, I want something that I can use that has real off road trail data and works with waypoints etc. Also, if there is no signal do these apps still work? I have a navi app for off shore fishing but as soon as I get more than a few miles offshore its useless. Thanks in advance for any input.

i was just going to make a thread on an iPhone/Android app that i have. Its called Gaia GPS. It has several layers of all topo maps and much more, has full tracking, waypoints, yada yada. Here is a link....

a friend showed it to me on a camping trip 2 weeks ago. Went hiking with it and it was great. I just used it on my phone this weekend on a backpacking trip. I used the app and my friend had the paper map, I had a much better idea of our location and track.

It has most trails, but not all of them. I am going to set it up and go wheeling with it in 2 weeks. Just remember to always have a paper map with you.
