buzzing sound from vapor canister when engine is off

1997 toyota tocoma

i just bought a 1997 tocoma 3400 6cyl motor..i hear a short buzzing sound{like a traped bee} when engine is off and continues all the time,even sitting in the driveway..dealer says switch on top is not actavated when not running..buzzing sound is short,maybe a second or two.ever minute or so...pulled off one of the vacumn hoses and it stops.put it back on and buz continues...any sugestions thanks
