Does anyone I have a 2012 trd sport with the factory iPod interface? If so how would you rate it? Does it charge the iPod and how easy is it to navigate through your music?

I had the stock Ipod interface in my 2012 and it has got to be the worst interface I have ever used in my life. It has an insane amount of lag so when you are scrolling through your music the screen goes blank and you have to wait for it to appear after a couple seconds on the screen. I would give the navigation of that interface a 0 out of 10. If you have hundreds and hundreds of albums like I do this is very frustrating. I replaced the unit with a Kenwood KVA-BT901 which is 1000 times better. Just get a basic head unit with the truck. If you really like music the stock audio setup will drive you insane especially with the distorted tiny speakers in the ceiling instead of back speakers. I replaced the head unit along with the front speakers and put in 2 6x9 enclosures with speakers in the back underneath the access cab seats. I unhooked the ceiling speakers and kept them disconnected because they are garbage that you can do nothing with. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the factory ipod interface.

Agree with west...worst damn interface ever. I use my bluetooth or aux cable so I can use my ipod for controls. Otherwise through the USB, I can only scroll through songs, artists, etc and it's a ton of button mashing to get where you want to go. Also, I agree the lag makes it unusable--you get about 3-5 songs shown before you have to pause for it to load 3-5 more songs on the screen. Ridiculous!! Speakers suck ass too, but nowhere near as bad as my 2007 Tacoma's. Plan on getting new speakers at least. The rest of the stereo functions are OK, but standard in most respects.

That was pretty much what I was afraid of. Well at least I know what to expect now. They have a 2012 TRD Sport at the dealership I am going to look at Saturday, guess I can live with it till I can get it replaced. Thanks for your input.

I totally agree, the IPOD interface is the worst i have ever seen. The lag time on searching for a song is the worst i have ever seen. My girlfriends '12 Sonata radio works so much damn better both xm and ipod. I finally took my truck by the local toyota to get this looked at.
