I have a 2011 DCSb and just bought a dirt bike. I bunch of things with this truck concern me.I searched and found a ton of good info about weak tail gate, tie down points, plastic beds....etc. so I see I am not alone. I looked at those expensive tie down racks and did want to spend the money nor did I like that they stay in all the time so here is my fix. I looked at adding metal to the tailgate but I have the reinforced tailgate and did'nt want togo there.

So I thought I would post pics to show what I did since this is such a popular topic. Nothing earth shattering I used the K.I.S.S method and this is what I ended up with.

1.Added Factory D-rings the the front bed mounting bolts.

2.Bought a 2x12 and mounted a front wheel chock to it. This did a few things for me here. First it allows the weight to be distributed on the tailgate better. When strapping down the bike all the force is on the front wheel chock so it does not push forward on the bed itself so there is no pressure or deflecting on the plastic bed front.

    3. Saved the extra piece of the 2x12 so when loading I can put the kick stand on it until I get the straps on.

That looks great! Here's my set up, 2 quads ago, but it gets the point across.
The extra D-rings in the front on the 2 floor corners was a MUST. I can't believe Toyota would release a truck like that.

Honestly. You'll never have a problem with loading a dirt bike onto our Tacomas. I never had an issue with mine.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Even with my long bed, I have to cock mine in sideways to get the gate closed. I have a CRF230. Perfect trail bike, all I ride are trails since there is an abundance of them around here. Glad to see there is another rider here, welcome aboard both addictions!

Good design. The tacoma plastic bed is probably the #1 thing that will push me toward a Tundra next time.

My ktm rides sideways in my bed. I have the 6ft bed, with a toolbox. Rear tire is about in the middle of the tailgate, when totally sideways. Only problem I have run into is lack of tie down points. Only points I have are those moving bed cleats, and those suck for a 200 pound dirtbike

Trucking my DRZ-400 around was one of my main concerns when I got my truck. Thanks for doing all the brain work for me. :D

I also have a crf230 and a long bed. I diagonal the bike from the front corner of the bed. It kinda wedges in there and then I am able to strap the back wheel to the other side of the bed. Still give quite a bit of room behind the bike to haul supplies. Very study.
