what is needed to install blisten 5100?

OP is a first gen and I was quoting him. Settings for first gens are 0, 1", and 2.5"

 

I disagree, I had a 2001 with stock coils on 5100 shocks, until I got new coils it rode like a tank, and within a few months had sagged a lot! the coil is too old to compress it, it's already sagged from 8 years of use, to compress it at all isn't going to work well. when spending money on suspension you expect it to ride much better after install, but I highly doubt OP will be happy for long with the old coils. from my experience the coils made a massive difference.

 

you are also using brand new coils from your 2012, his coils are 8 years old.

 

I agree new coils is the best solution. But strictly between spacers and 5100s, 5100s will offer a better ride

There may be a difference with first gens or an older vehicle, but my personal experience with spacers and 5100s were both on new trucks so it's an apples to apples comparison. I agree that new coils would be the best route if it's in the OPs budget, I just can't imagine any circumstance that would make a spacer a better option than 5100s

 

thanks guys, im looking to keep my budget around 500 or less, im thinking possibly ebiach coils and the 5100s. i asked a guy at napa, and someone at a big o tires and for some reason they said that replacing the shock alone would not provide me with a lift, are they just not familiar with lifting or am i missing something?

 

they are not familiar with this lift kit because it's not marketed to them, you've got some of the best tacoma knowledge right on this website.

 

no not better, but for the price difference, it would be close enough in ride quality to buy the spacer, but adding the eibach coils puts the 5100's ahead of the spacer for sure!

what add a leafs do you guys reccomend with the 2.5 inch lift?

 

will i be able to get away with the stock brake lines? i am installing the bilsten 5100s in front with stock springs, and i am installing a 1.5 inch wheelers add a leaf in the rear with stock shocks, i also ordered new bushings and u joints. everything will be installed next Saturday. if you had an extra 170, would you recommend spending it on new ebiach coils, ome coils, or the rear bilsten 5100s? thanks

 

yea i have decided to spend a bit more money, but cant keep spending all that i earn, so i have to choose. do you think i will have any issues currently? will the stock rear shocks be fine with the aal? will i have any alignment issues without new UCA's?
