Just curious, what is the point of the secondary air filter on the stock airbox on a 1gr-fe v6 engine?? And does it have a service interval for when it has to get replaced?? Because im sure after a while it does get dirty, and why is there even a secondary air filter?? It seems kinda pointless if u maintain you regular air filter and/or have a reusable air filter. Any feedback on this is much appreciated :)

Please forgive me for being a little crude but I guess it's akin to wearing a pad with a tampon.

Its a charcoal filter, simply in place to absorb any fuel vapors that might evaporate thru the intake track uppon engine shut down. It has no affect on the air flowing into the engine.

I would think there is no interval since it's basically in there permanently (Unless you're like me and went with the crowd awhile back and removed it for no reason. Aaahhh peer pressure... ).

If the pad was an active carbon odor filter.

    Hey now there's an idea.

I would say if you replace it every ten to fifteen million miles, it will probably be fine.
