I know there are tuns of posts about head lights. I do a lot of night driving from OC to down town LA. I have been using SilverStar® ULTRA for a wile now. I'm now on my forth set there just burning out on me. I have sent one set back to sylvania for warranty and today the warranty ones burned out. I do not wont H.I.D's although for what i have spent on SilverStar® ULTRA's I cooed have had a nice set of HIDs now.

I'm looking for something like a
SilverStar® ULTRA that will last me more then 6/8-months. Any ides on lights with out going HID or street racer blue.

I have Silverstars as well and have never had any issue with them burning out prematurely. I know some people have mentioned that it depends on where the lights were manufactured - I guess there are two sources for the lights and one produces a more reliable product. Check the package and see what the manufacturing source is.

Some people have raved about PIAA Extreme White bulbs as well. If you're done with Silverstars they may be another option for you.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I've got the same on my Taco. So far so good. Have a set on my wife's Rav4 since it was new August '06 -- no problems there, either (though the stupid plastic lens is all aged out...time for a buffing).
I talked with the manager at Schlep Boys a while back. He swore up and down they don't last more than six months, and if it weren't for Corporate making him carry them, he'd not even offer them for sale.
I think it just depends on how often they're on, and prolly where they come from. Try a different retailer? :notsure:

Go to Powerbulbs.com . You want either the Phillips X-treme or the Osram Night Breakers. Sometimes you can find the Phillips at a local distributor. Super Autobacs (Stanton) had them when they were still in business. I have the Phillips and they are much better than stock, and I have had them since I bought my truck in 2009 (knock on wood).

I had Phillips x-treme, pretty decent bulb for a good price.

Silverstars are crap. My dad was burning out about 4-6 of those a year on his 2008, put in the Phillips and its been 3 years, no issues.

I think the silverstars look better but not at the cost of having to replace them all the time.

Look for the regular Silver Stars, made in Germany. Those are the only onbes that seem to last. The other ones (Made in USA, Japan, Thialand) seem to go dead fast.

Another really good headlight upgrade are Phillips X-Treme power. I have read they are some of the brightest street legal bulbs.

3 years on my normal Silverstars in my headlights, knock on wood.

I had Silverstar Ultras die after 2 years in my fogs. I had PIAA in a vehicle before and didn't have any problems but only had them in a year or so.

I had the same bulbs and same issue with my Jeep (that i traded for my tacoma). The way it was explained to me by the guy at the auto parts store was " to burn brighter they burn hotter, makes them burn out faster" after going through 2 or 3 sets i just went back to the regular halogens.
