That's it. I took my truck in to the dealer for the initial 5k mile service, and I have an original Japan filter in my garage I am hanging onto, that I changed after I got home.

Heck you should be able to press charges and have someone arrested if you wanted too. I know Walmart and most of the retail stores around here can and do press full charges of shoplifting over a $1 pack of gum.

The other shoe should also fit.

I'll be taking my truck in for the SRS Clockspring soon, I will be marking/tape different parts so I know if the work was done. Before it leaves the shop I will be checking and calling them out if it's not done.

Yeah... when I bought my '06 Taco...I got 4 "free" oil changes.... (I fell for their friggin' crap).... After the 2nd change, I asked why the oil level on the dipstick was way over the FULL mark.... they said...."We got a calibrated system so that we can put in just the exact amount"...... Well, then I said...."what's the freakin' marks for on the dip stick if "full" is way over the Marks"..????.... They said "don't worry about it....

On the 3rd change....it's way over again and I told them to drain it down to the FULL mark.... they did.....

Since then, I've put in EXACTLY what Toyota says i should, and It's DEAD ON the mark, and has been ever since....

I'll NEVER take MY truck to those F--'er's again....

    Yup.
WoW! So sad to see our fellow americans employed at Toyota dealerships across the nation are so lazy to do such a simple task of rotating tires and changing oil and filter. I caught my local dealer in Redlands, Ca. (Yup! tossed under the bus, cuz I don't give a F**ck!, just like their attitude towards my truck) the second time i went in, by marking tires and filter. My grandfather would roll over in his grave if he heard how lazy we americans have become. Back in his era, it was all about "Made in the USA" or assembled in the USA and went to work not because it was a hassle or felt it was punishment. It was all about pride, values, morals, etc. now I see why more and more jobs are being whored out to third world countries, cuz our youngsters we employ are too godamn lazy to WORK! WTF is this world coming too?!

But the old saying will live on forever:

Ïf you want something done, and done correctly, you must do it yourself"!

I never felt so miserable than when I was bringing my truck in for the free Maintenance. You never know what they are or aren't doing until you go behind them and check. I'm so glad I have used up all my free maintenance so I can do it all myself.

i always mark the filter with my knife, just a nice scratch across the top, before i go to the dealer... when i change it myself i always scratch the date into the top (trick from back when i was on the farm)
