Anyone else have to turn their truck off to get it out of 4lo? (09 access cab, base). 4hi works fine. when going from 4hi, to 4lo, all is well.
When turning the knob back to either 4hi, or 2wd, it just keeps beeping.
    tried reverse.
Maybe dating myself, but i miss getting out to lock the hubs!
    he, he...i said dating myself...

Mine's never done that, but I only have used 4 low a handful of times.

Gotta jam the clutch down like when you're starting it, I know that much, but if you can get it into 4 low in the first place then you're already doing it right.

Yes neutral on a manual. The clutch may be depressed but it's still slipping against a moving flywheel and can give just enough torque to bind it up.

thats how my reg cab was at least.. there is a little button attached to the wall behind the clutch, you have to push the clutch far enough in to push that button or it wont work.

I have also been having issues with the switch behind the clutch pedal. Been thinking about possibly moving it to another location.

IDK how youd do that, it would be a pain in the ass holding that with your hand everytime you wanna go into 4wd. if i were you guys, id put something on the back of the clutch pedal to "extend" the pedal so it would push the button easier without having to put your foot the floor and still coming up short sometimes. just a thought

Yeah, I miss the manual xfer case and manual lockers also. They worked every time. The setup I have now is a major disappointment. Too much f'ing around with the clutch to get it into 4lo. I have to put the clutch in to the floor from a dead stop, then switch it from 4hi to 4lo, release the clutch (still at a dead stop), then switch it back to 4hi, put the clutch to the floor again, then switch it from 4hi to 4lo again. That works every time.

Any other method hasn't worked for me consistently, and that's disappointing. And I don't think that's unusual since viewing posts the short time I've been reading this forum.

I'm not gonna replace the truck since it's a badass truck, but having to double-clutch like the truck was a '40 Ford non-syncro is irritating.

If you have aftermarket floor mats they maybe too thick sounds funny but the clutch pedal has to go all the way to the floor.

True. I put the Weathertechs from the Gen I into the 2012 and I couldn't get into 4lo at all. Removed the driver side mat and did get it into 4lo, but still have to f around with it too much, IMO. Ah well, it is what it is. I do wish I had a manual xfer case and manual lockers.
