Is it legal to drive to Vegas on Powerline Road? I think the wife would love a trip out to Vegas if I went that way. I am assuming a Stock TRD-OR 4x4 would make it no problem by the pictures.

I used to do this drive regularly, take which ever car is the most comfortable for you to drive. Mandalay is my choice for Hotel, they have been very good to me and the poker room is awesome. Take your parents to The Pink Taco (Mexican Restaurant) in the Hard Rock, they will love it...

IIRC, California BLM allows open desert travel, but Nevada BLM doesnt, so you can drive from Barstow to Stateline on the powerline road, but once is Nevada, be careful, you can be busted.

If you would like to get away from the casino atmosphere and have an outstanding Italian dinner, try the Bootlegger Italian Bistro. Great food, inexpensive prices:

After dinner, hop across I-15 to the Bass Pro Shop and walk off that dinner!!!!
