I'm looking to do some custom lighting in my new 09 DC. I have a few quick questions as I know many of you have done the same or have at least done the research on adding led's to the dome and map lights.

I know here comes the flaming but check it out:

    1. I've used the search function a hundred times tonight and read tons of different information. Information overload!

    2. I'm going to go with "red" interior lights in at least the dome light with an option of the maps.

    3. Prior to an hour ago, I have never used nor know anything about Led lighting in trucks. Wasn't even one of my "to do" items until I saw a few pics of other's setups. (tks for that by the way) ;)

So here's my story. I'm an airline guy and for years I flew small general aviation airplanes which use red interior lighting at night in lieu of regular lighting to keep our eyes adjusted to nighttime flying. We can read maps, charts, approach plates, and playboys pretty good in red light but can save our night vision for landing. (I'm sure this has been covered here before) Either way for me its all about the "nostalgia" of the "good ol' days" flying around all night and building flight time while you all were sleeping peacefully. So I guess I'm going for the "nightime cockpit" effect. Also I have a silver truck with red accents (ie. trd sport stickers, red trd wheel caps, red factory pinstripping, so I'm kinda wanting to keep the red hints theme going.

Thinking of doing just the dome to have the white maps when I need them for actually lighting the vehicle ( i.e. traveling with the wife and little monster). Otherwise the red would be fine for my purposes.

Questions: After reading many post, I'm a little confused on the best course of action. Are the circuit board type multi led configurations with the dummy bulb the best way to go for brightness and longevity over the regular festoon type bulbs?

Also from what I gathered, superbrightleds.com lights don't seem to last that long. Is that still the case? I've concluded that Oznium.com has some pretty good ones with regards to the brightness/longevity factors. ??

Lastly it seems that the kits from Oznium come with dummy bulbs included? Which of the 4 types will work and/or work best for our 2nd gen. dc taco cabins?

Thanks so very much for any info guys an gals, sorry for the long post but I love to learn and tapping into a very knowledgeable group is the best way in my opinion!

Thanks for your patience and any advice!

Thanks, I've actually just been in touch and got a quote from him for some light options. Thanks for the info.
