So here is my dilemma. I have been getting prices on 2012 and going over different deals with dealers on a 2012 taco dc 4wd.

I really like the new updated interior and front end of the truck. However, I am torn between buying now or waiting till they completely redesign the exterior and implement newer engine and so forth. I thought I read somewhere on here about direct injection engines being put it next year?? Maybe?

So having said that, do you think I should buy a 2012 or wait to see what toyota offers. Trust me, I realize that each year there is going to be something added to the truck to make it more desirable, so it would be impossible to always have the next, newest thing. However, I don't want to buy one now and have a completely redesigned badass model come out a year from now.

Evidently, the call is ultimately mine and its what I have to decide, but just was curious to hear feedback from ya'll and what you would do.

I'm holding off for another month on the fact that my dealer tells me TRD packages will come with heated cloth seats and a touchscreen which replaces the radio stack.

That being said if you wait forever, you'll never get to enjoy a newer model. I would at least wait until 2013s come out and then weigh your options. With it being so close to a new year rollout, you could have an entire year before a new model tweak, or just one month. I'd pick the year.

Depends how long you are willing to wait. Rumor has it the 2013 will be essentially unchanged.

If you can wait a few months then you can see for sure what the 2013 will have. That may be worth it unless you really want to drive a new truck around during the summer.

I just got a 2012 and love it. For awhile I had thought about waiting for a complete redesign but I ended up needing to upgrade my old truck before that could happen. One advantage to buying a 2012 or 2013 instead of waiting for a redesign is you will probably end up with a truck that has fewer issues over its life. Toyota has had 7 years to see what problems developed on the 2nd gen and then address those with better parts and other upgrades. I expect the 2012 to be great like my 2002 as they are both late models in their respective generations. A new redesign will come with growing pains but the trade off could be getting an all new, sweet looking truck.

    I have a 2006 also, wait till they throw the new 4Runner 4.0L V6 270HP engine in it or better yet Tundra standard V8 4.7 iForce @ 310HP :)

This is good advice in my opinion. The '05 Taco seems to have more glitches in it than any other year, probably because it was the first year of the redesign. Toyota isn't changing much for the 2013 apparently, so unless you want to wait a full year to see what the 2014 is like, I'd start looking for deals on the '12 as they start to move inventory. My dealer just ran a 0% for 72 months promo in June, for instance. First time I had ever heard of that on the Tacos.
