Thanks to everyones suggestions in my previous thread before it got locked. I have another question to pose.

If I bought a new 2012 Tacoma, the only reason I would really need a TRD package is the seats. I could have a SR5 model for a couple grand less and not miss the other features of my 2011 Sport (aside from the JBL stereo, but you can't get that in a manual in 2012 anyway). I love the TRD seats though, and am not very crazy about the SR5 seats.

Has anyone ever had any luck finding TRD seats in junkyards? I've searched around for seat swaps and it doesn't look like it's too common, at least on this site.

If I remember correctly, they started putting the seat air bags in the Tacoma in 2009. This would limit me to even less model years to pick from. If I were to change seats and lose my airbags, I would just go for some sexy Corbeaus.

    Thanks!

Are you sure that you really need TRD seats? From what I have seen and read about, the only real difference is that the TRD seats have the lumbar support adjustment bar. I suggest sitting in both SR5 and TRD seats and seeing for yourself if you really need them.

i dont like the sport seats. I test drove a 2012 base model, v6 manual earlier this year, and I like the seats more then my sport seats.

and I havent had any luck finding any tacomas in the junkyards around here. I have only found a handfull of pre taco's, and even fewer 4runners.

I've tried them both, and for me, the TRD seats are much more comfortable than the stock seats. They weren't terrible by any means, and maybe they break in after a while and become better. I just wish you could order those seats without having to buy the whole package.

That was kind of the feeling I was getting reading through some other junkyard threads. Considering how many are on the road, you would think there'd be a decent selection of wrecked ones.

I have only seen two Toyota trucks in all of the junk yards that I have been too, and they pre-dated gen 1 tacos, it is very unlikely that you will find the seats. You might find someone selling their covers here. Good luck

It's very possible to find a seat set, they come up for sale on here occasionally. I bought a set of base buckets on here.
