    Does anyone else notice that even with the recirculate air button activated for the AC system, that if you get behind a vehicle that's throwin out toxic fumes, that you are still able to smell the fumes? I am assuming that even when activated, it is designed to let a small amount of fresh air enter the cabin????

    I've got no complaints with mine on this. The fresh air door should close quite tightly when on recirc, I would be checking its operation and foam seal, and for any leaves, debris, etc, keeping it from sealing up. A charcoal cab air filter instead of the plain dust filter will help with smells as well, if you don't have one already, but thats beside the point.

    Yeah, I'd like to know its location also..........

    And where can you get the charcoal air filter? Never changed mine, and its an 08.

    Some fresh air is always allowed in to prevent carbon dioxide build up five people in a closed off cabin will use up all the o2 pretty fast

    I might be wrong but i believe it's on the back of the cab on the passenger side between the cab and the bed. The again that might just be a vent for cabin pressure.

    Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
    Isn't the intake between the windshield and the hood, and the actual door to close this off is under your dash? I haven't ever examined and I'm curious like Brock, but that is where it is in most every vehicle. :confused:

    The air door is located directly above the cab air filter. It has a foam seal on both sides. It should be snug against the grate with the heater in fresh air mode, and snugly close off the fresh air in recirc mode. If you remove the cab air filter, you can reach / look in to make sure it closes. And no, the HVAC system does not allow in any fresh air on recirc mode when working correctly.

    I had thought there was an OEM charcoal cab filter, but I went looking for a part number and came up empty handed. There are aftermarket ones available though. Either way, an '08 probably needs a new one, badly!

    It also allows air to escape when you have the heater in fresh air mode, really its main function. The blower would pressurize the cab and then have virtually no airflow without the rear vents.

    Buy a 'cut to fit' furnace filter and make your own. I get six cabin filters out of one furnace filter for around $15 at wally world...

    There is a DIY on the site somewhere...
