I might have to sell my taco - affordable car with good truck space?

I'm slowly getting toward a rock and a hard space being that my employment is spotty and I'm going back to school in the fall, I may need to sell my Taco :(
I'm currently living with my parents (I'm 27) for the summer and I cannot stay here past September - due to the possible loss of my sanity and inability to bring women here.

SO. My one item (besides my music gear and I've sold off most of that which isn't "necessary") is my 01' pre runner. If I have to sell it, what is a good affordable car - something I could find for say 2k used, that is reliable and has good truck space - so I can fit my amplifier half-stack back there...

I don't need anything flashy or sporty, just something reliable, easy to work on - perhaps the car equivalent of a Tacoma in terms of it running forever with ease.

    Thanks.

You aren't going to find anything in the bay area for $2k that is safe to put on the road, much less have a trunk big enough for your Marshall.

Last car I had that was big enough for a 4-12 and a head was a '69 Buick LeSabre... and they haven't made trunks like that in 35 years.

Keep your truck. For what you need to haul, you need a pickup or an SUV, and like I said, for $2k, all you are going to get is money pits.

    I had two.

'93 Blazer. Paid $3800 for it, put $2,000 into it in the first 6 months.
It got totaled a year later.
Insurance paid off $2500. Bought a '95 Suburban for $2200.
I put over $3000 into it over the next year and it STILL needed more work.
I sold it to a guy I work with for $1000 and bought the Taco.

    Hey Thanks,

Well both the head and cab don't need to fit, just the cab

But ya, I don't want to sell the taco but if it comes down to money, I could maybe get 9.5k for it which wouldn't be bad and that would be 9k more than I have now..

Are there any Toyoyta cars that have similar performance and reliability as a tacoma?

Sure... and they're going to cost nearly as much as you'll get for the Tacoma unless you buy a money pit.... and you'd be doing well to get a 4x10 cab into the back seat, forget the 4x12. Guitar case won't fit in the trunk.

Hmm, sound advice I think, thanks. Taco is one hell of a vehicle.
