Double cab long bed. Best of both. FTW!

i would love to have a double cab longbed but i would never be able to find one within the time that i have haha..im going to the beach on the 3rd for a tent camping trip and need my truck by then. so im kinda searching quickly for one. and as far as needs id just like to know how much can really fit in a short bed..id like to have true 4 doors. but we never have anyone riding with us.

I had a first gen ext cab before and there was no way in hell I was getting a smaller bed. When I go fishing I want my rods in the bed not hanging out. Unless you fish with ultralights. To me the short bed doesn't serve a purpose for anyone who hauls things. As far as towing I want the longer wheel base. Where are you located? Buying new or used?

Do you need to carry people? If not personally I would get an access cab.

I drive a 4door suv right now and thought I would miss the air space, but the access cab is not bad.

And if you need to keep stuff out of the weather you can always get a cap. Just my .02 cents. It is ultimately your decision and what you like more.

I do like 4 doors, but if its to much for your needs then you would just be wasting money.

DC resale value is more. More people want DC than ext cab now days.

AC for bed space or DC for cab space. Back seats of AC suck but if you don't plan on having people there the extra space is nice.
It's just the two of us & AC gives us extra space in the cab for stuff.
We have a shell with a platform for sleeping in the back when camping.

Personally I never have anyone in my vehicle other than my GF and the dog.....and I value the fact I have a full bed as I put shit in there alot. If you have passengers then DC all day....but for my need the AC is perfect. I def utilize the size of the bed and I can still stuff a midget in the back once in a while for a short ride.

I just always look at the DCSB and think it looks funny.....just my .02. The bed is just too short to me. Better wheelbase tho for offroading and such though.

    GL with purchase and welcome!

If you feel you get all your stuff in the short(er) bed, I'd go DC...but if you don't have a need to transport additional passengers, the AC would probably be a better choice.

I faced the same decision just a few weeks ago when I bought my 2012...and ultimately settled on the DCSB.

    Stock for now.
DCLB- if you need the extra 1.1ft. Comes in handy if you need to haul bikes
    It other long things.

DCSB- for looks. I like the looks of the short bed plus tge TRD Off Road only comes with a SB.

I bought an Access Cab as I hate having other people in my vehicle. Two people can fit back there in a pinch for short rides and that's good enough. Same reason I own an Audi S5.

I can fit myself, and 4 of my friends, plus all their duffle bags, sleeping bags, tents, chairs, coolers, fishing poles, tackle boxes, and firewood in the bed for a whole weekend out on the river...or make it a shelter for two for the night.

The box is big enough for me. :)

PS. Have fun getting high-centered with a DCLB. ;)
