Here is the fix for TPMS

So after talking to a hundred people, walmart and three toyota dealerships I finally got a straight answer. I am putting bigger tires and wheels with a higher psi so I wanted to know if you could reset the sensor to that pressure or just back to the factory specs with the reset button in the cab. No one could give me a straight answer. Finally a toyota dealership said that the sensors are not set to a specific psi. The way they work is that they read each other and if they get off by three psi or so the light comes on. So, if you have all the tires set to the same psi regardless what it is, and press the reset button like it says in the manual you should be fine. The only problem may be that the spare has a sensor and that tire may be set at a different pressure. Luckily I checked mine and I have a full size spare but no sensor. You can tell by looking at the valve stem and if it is plastic or rubber there is no sensor. I know a lot of people have had issues with this so hopefully it will help. (hopefully this is true also.) I will just have to wait and check tomorrow when I get the new wheels put on. If the light still stays on chances are the shop you took it to broke the sensor when the took it out of the old wheel. Evidently this happens a lot.

 

The sensor was removed from the spare in the '09s (thank God)... Prior to that, good luck!
