Hey guys getting ready to finish up my audio set up in my dblc and was wondering do most of you guys run coaxials in the rear? Right now i have the stock speakers running off a JL Slash amp 300/4 with a 12" sub behind the rear seats running off a seperate amp and the people sitting in the back say they cant here the music to well the fronts sound ok but im guessing because the tweeters help out a lot? Would it be better to go with a componet in the rear and mount the tweeter some where on the door or will aftermarket coaxials be ok with the amp? Thanks

Depends on what you are trying to do. From your posts you are putting the rear speakers in to satisfy the rear seat passengers. If that is the major driver then a set of components back there would be best (IMHO).

BUT, the rear speakers will mess with the sound stage, if you are concerned with that, as the rear speaker's highs will mess up the imaging.

I understand what the rear seat passengers are talking about though as I ran just a set of front components and a sub for quite some time, then my son got a learners permit and I ended up riding in back some. I quickly installed a set of coaxes in the rear doors and then just adjust the fader if I am tuning for best sound stage or most balanced sound across 4 seats.

BTW I ran 4 sets of components in my last truck and the "4 seat sound" was great. Not great for a sound stage and imaging though.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I am running 2 sets of components in my 02 ext cab...the back is so close to my ears that its not a total waste to put components in the rear.
