I am struggling to find a "non TRD" double cab to test drive. I really just want to judge the ride (I've already test driven a TRD Offroad DCSB). Are the DCSB and an Access Cab with the 6" bed the same length and suspension? There are several Non TRD around.

    Thanks!!

    Thanks for the details!!

How about differences year over year? Is the 2008 suspension the same as 2006, for example. was there a point where they tweaked the 2nd gen suspension (non TRD)?

the only difference is that some will have the TSB leaf springs (4 leafs instead of 3).

TRD sport and non trd trucks will have pogressive coils and the TRD off road will have Digressive coils (it may be the other way around) but the sport and non trd have the same coils.

Yeah, it's the other way around with the OR having progressive coils, and they look a little thicker too. The Sport and SR5' look the same. Good luck on your search I know it's late in the model year and there isn't much at my dealership either.

Definitely test them back to back, you'll notice a difference. My first Taco was an OR when I intended to buy an SR5 but didn't have the exact model I wanted. I quickly noticed how much rougher it was over the bad stretch of road, but it wasnt that bad at all. The SR5 was just so smooth. I have a Sport now which I think rides more like an SR5, only a little firmer.

I believe a TRD Sport has Bilsteins and an SR5 doesn't, coils and leafs should be the same though.

At some point the rear bump stops were shortened so the 'rough ride when loaded' aka Toyota crappy leaf syndrome needed more weight to get it to rear its ugly head.

I think they did something with the 09-up 3 leafs to beef them up. My dad's 08 AC TRD OR couldn't take a whole lot of weight in the back. It squatted really easily. My 09 AC base however can take a whole lot more. He and I stacked the bed with a crapload of green cherry from cab to tailgate last year in hopes to get the TSB. The truck didn't even get down to level, and with the shorter bumpstops, I didn't have a ghost of a chance.

Sport has a bigger front anti-sway bar, does it not?

When did TRAC/ATRAC come into being? I think it was for the 08's, but not sure.

I couldn't imagine my stock SR5 being any smoother. It was like driving on a cloud. Add a lift and tires, well that's a different story.
