God dam, he sent that jump hard. It really is a toss up imo. He was coming in hard and fast and was going to case it right at the worst spot and was (did) going to come to a complete stop any way. But i have to say i bet the landing would have been softer if he had stayed on the bike and took most of the force with his ass on the seat then getting ejected vs just falling flat into the ground. These kinds of videos are very scary and are not happy things to think about when you are going to ride.

I vote ride it out, gnarly! I came up short on a small triple years ago and cracked ribs slamming into bars, but helluva lot better than bilateral tibia fractures. Anyone remember Doug Henry's massive crash during an outdoor national in 90s sometime. Holy shit, that was like a 5 story drop straight down. He rode it out and had multiple spinal compression fractures and ended up with Ti cages...

Holy sh*t I was at work so couldnt see the video but is this someones friend here? Why the hell did he jump off?

This is my friend Robert jumping a 110 ft step up. He purposely cased it out a few times packing front wheel first just to show me it was safe  (he is full pro). There is a reason you want to do front wheel first. If you try to land flat your going to hit the frame like you said, compress into the seat and get flung over the bars. If you land rear wheel first your still going to take an impact and then get flung over the bars. If you land on the front wheel first none of that will happen. What you do is front down first but still put all of your weight on your pegs, if you go hands first your going to break your wrists. The bike will deflect evenly and you dont get flung over the bars. This is just for casing out, going long is different

I have to disagree with you. I cased a double and landed on my seat compressed my spine so bad that i could hardly breath and that happened when I was 14. I am 16 now and still deal with daily back pain. It will be a life long injury.

See how he stopped and the bike kept moving? The bike absorbed impact, his legs didnt. He would not have broken both legs if he stayed on, and he is lucky he didnt break arms or his neck with how hard he face planted

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Motorcycle racing is a violent world period. I lost a friend in a fatal practice crash a few years back, that shook me up so bad I nearly gave up riding completely. But I knew he would have wanted me to keep going, so I did. But one thing I have accepted since his death, is that every lap I make around that track could be my last. But I love doing it, if I die in a crash, I would go out happy as ever. My friend was doing what he loved when he crossed the finish line into heaven that fateful day, so I know he went on happily.
