Just got my 2012 taco a few weeks ago and I've noticed that whenever you press the talk button on the wheel it makes a very loud beep. I've searched all over the place and can't seem to find a way to turn it down. Anyone else have this problem and a solution?

hmmm...actually, no :( On my 08 Rav that I traded in, the beep was always the same volume regardless of the radio volume. I will give it a try though, and if it really is that simple, then I'll have to figure out some sort of self punishment for being "that guy"

Ok, now I don't feel like an idiot. I tried regular radio volume, phone ringing volume, and phone talk volume. Nothing changed the volume of the beep when you press the talk button. I even went through the setup menu and didn't find anything there either. Guess I'll just have to get used to it.

I did the same when I first got mine. I didn't think to use the steering wheel volume since I thought it was the same as the stereo knob.

Yep, I used the steering wheel buttons to turn the volume way down when it was ringing. Hung up, pressed the talk button and it was still the same loud irritating chirp. Also turned the volume way down after answering the call, hung up and it was still the same. Checked the vehicle manual and nothing useful. hmmm....I wonder if there is a separate manual for the radio...nope, just checked while grabbing another beer ;)

My biggest problem is that after many years on the flight line fixing aircraft, there are certain frequencies of sound that are painful. And the the chirp is just right and a bit too loud. I find my self cringing every time I hit that button. If I can't find a solution, I'll have to start using the phone to make calls and look around for a replacement radio. I'll gladly drop a couple hundred to get rid of the chirp.

    Thanks for the help.
