    I'm here for the gangbang?
Whats happen y'all, I am in a predicament. I have a toyota 4runner and absolutely love the off-road capabilities as well as looks,; and I also have a peasant Cammry. I am looking to trade in the Cammry for possibly a Tacoma. I understand that there are many different models(x-runner, taco, pre-runner) and eventhough I have been researching what the differences are it appears that they are mostly cosmetic, is there truth here? I am in and out of Colorado as often as I can and everytime I'm there I take the Runner off-roading and have never had a problem with the how durable and powerful that beast is in climbing power. My question is that if I were to purchase the tacoma, would it be a machine that would have problems climbing mountains and trails? The 4runner and Tacoma both have a 4.0 v6 but are configuered different, so another confuser. I am somewhat new at all of this but I have a good perspective and catch on real quick, I appreciate the help fellas

    Welcome

Some packages are cosmetic such as the sport with gives you a hood scoop and color-matched stuff with no locker in the rear

The off-road package gives you a locker in the rear which sounds like if you will be hitting the trails and stuff would be the one for you.

Also a prerunner is 2wd as opposed to the 4x4 option. You can get a locker in the 2wd if your not looking for a 4x4

and I'm pretty sure the sr5 is just the base model that everything is built on

I think those are the only real mechanical differences. Hope that helps  and if im wrong with anything im sure someone will chime in.

What year (or years) of Taco are you looking at? What do you want it to be able to do -offorad like the runner?? or just be a daily driver??

Your statement that the differences between the packages is mostly cosmetic is a bit off- Thee XRunner is a sport/racing style truck where are the TRD Sport is a street truck and the offroad has some upgrades for wheeling capability. Once you knwo what you want it to do- We can help you pick the best fit.

Howdy gents, for the most part I will be using it as the daily commute and when I ahvedown time, its play time. I will be in and out of Colo as often as possible so it'd be the trails for me. I guess as it stands i'll be looking for the TRD package? I will more then likely wait for the end of the year sales when the dealerships are trying to unload their 2012 models, so a 2012 for me. I understand the 2012 has a new, more car like, interior? I heard a rumor about them

I have never sat in a 2012 but it has an "updated" interior. I'm not sure if its more car like. Ask in one of the 2012 threads, they will give you the best answer since the have one.
