A member from my local gun forum attended and documented what he saw. I wish I was able to be there with the rest of these true American patriots.

Obviously the police shown here were off their game. Must be rookies.

The guy was open carrying his Ruger Security Six, as were about 2 dozen other people I saw. This guy, Kevin Myers, associated with http://www.immigrationbuzz.com, got followed around a bit by the DPS officers, but then was left alone, only to have them zoom up on him once he happened to get out of the thickness of the main crowd. I saw this happening and walked over to record it. Myers kept asking if he had violated some law or regulation. The male DPS officer, R.F. Young, simply said it was a "special event", and it was the policy of the organizers. (Which is absolute horse s@%t, because Darcy Olsen, Clint Bolick and the rest of the Goldwater Institute staff would NEVER have disarmament at an event like this.) When the capitol police officers showed up, officer Young quietly whispered to them, "What's your policy on this?" So from what I witnessed, Young simply decided to disarm Myers first, and figure out policy (and law?) second.

Myers was let go, but the capitol police kept his revolver, telling him he could pick it up from them tomorrow.
As far as I know or saw, no one else was disarmed. Perhaps because by the time this was concluded, and despite trying to get Myers away from the crowd, about a dozen other concerned gun-rights folks were beginning to gather to see what was happening. The DPS officers seemed real uncomfortable that I was there from moment one with a camera. A few of the other gun-rights guys started throwing questions at the DPS officers;..."What'd he do?" "What law did he break?""Why aren't you arresting him if you're taking his gun?" Questions like those.

I was there at around 5:40. HUGE amount of folks. Seemed about 5000+ people were there. I couldnt find a place to park my truck, so I just drove the block, honking in support. Interesting thing I saw.......Only a couple of news agencies were there. Fox 10, and I belive channel 45 or something......didnt see channel 3, 5 or 12. Seemed very peacefull, and everyone was in good spirits. I had to be at 24st and McDowell at 6:15 (Suns game, and had to pick up a couple of folks), so I didnt stay long. It was very comforting seeing the turnout.
