So me and my bro (he just bought an 04 Taco) went out riding the other day. I wanted to test out the yellow wire mod in my 2nd Gen. We found a deep ditch that would allow two tires to be up in the air. He went first, not having trac on his truck. He was stuck with two tires in the air at an angle across the ditch; however, it didn't take much to get the tires to bite. He simply worked the steering wheel back and forth until one of the tires in the air bit, and the truck lunged forward.

Then I get into the ditch with mine. I turned off the trac in 4H and was in the same scenario, with two tires in the air spinning. Then, I engaged the trac again, and gave it a little rpm (around 1,000) and the truck moved forward. I got back into the ditch and put it in 4L, repeating the same steps. In open diff with the trac off, I was going nowhere. Then, in 4L, I turned the trac on and gave it some juice (about 1000 rpm) and the truck crawled out.

I have read about the trac system, and did the yellow wire mod, but this was the first chance I have had to actually test the thing myself. Believe me, it works. He was a little upset that he didn't have trac but he has decided to get a locker. I would too, but to tell you the truth, down here in Louisiana there's not too many rocks or boulders to scale. Lockers don't do much good in a boggy swamp in my opinion, because most of the time all of your wheels are spinning.
