    Hello all,

I am new to this forum and Toyotas. I am not new to working on vehicles. My 30 years of experience is with the big three, however Ford is my preference.

I was given a 2000 Corolla for being a good neighbor. I really did not need it but I figured even an old fart can learn something new. This car has 81K miles and is in good condition. A car used everyday in Michigan this age is normally pretty rusty, but this one is not. It was owned by an old lady neighbor who would go to California every winter, so the car sat in her garage and avoided the winter salt.

When I got it it had a cracked windshield, marginal tires, needed brakes and the CEL was on. I put brakes on it and got the windshield replaced. I checked the codes and came up with P0446 & 0441. This is an evap system fault. Cleared the codes and within a few days it came on again, so I know it is a real problem that I will deal with.

I was telling a few guys in the office about being given this car and a couple of them offered to buy it sight unseen. So I have been driving it a couple of weeks and am impressed with the fuel sipping qualities of the car, even with the air on.

So, this is my introduction to Toyota and am looking foreward to being a membe of this forum.
