My choice would be a North American Arms .22 mini revolver. When I qualified for my concealed permit, the instructor couldn't stop mentioning over and over my 'mousegun' Buckmark .22 that I very very successfully used. I could only reply that he consider how John Hinckley nearly killed our President, made Brady a near veggie, knocked one or two Secret Service agents out of the fight... with a .22.

In all probability one's having to draw his legally carried firearm will involve an assailant only a few feet, or couple of yards away, armed with a gun, knife, lead pipe, whatever. Draw your easily concealed pocket pistol, hold it at gut level & empty it. Possibility of a bystander killing pass-through or miss is low. You will not, in all likelyhood, be engaging someone wearing body armor, across the street, someone who is an experienced gunfighter. Your legally entitled right is to protect yourself and perhaps others, not to engage a bad guy in a fight to the finish; If you can simply scare off the assailant by drawing and not shooting, you are successful. We're not police officers charged with getting the perp at any and all costs.

Frankly, I tend to doubt your average concealed pistol-packing citizen has the killer instinct, the sheer guts, the coolness under fire, the experience necessary, to defend himself when someone else has the drop on him in an armed assault.

    x2 Ruger LCP is a great concealed carry gun. I personally carry a Glock 27 in a inside-the-waistband holster when I'm off-duty.

I did buy one of those bar caddies to go in my console and my xd sub compact with a inside the waist band holster fits right in one of the slots. That's if ur looking for storage options in your truck also.

OP I'm in the same boat as you. I'm about to sign up for a CC class and a new compact/subcompact semi auto. I have a H&K P30 but hate the trigger so I'm selling it. I haven't looked first hand yet (just a lot of internet research so far) and one that keeps popping up is the Walther PPS. Another is the CZ 2075, CZ's are great guns, but don't get a lot of recognition in the States. Also, the Sig 250 is around $400 plus its modular so you have the ability to change calibers and the size of the gun. Someone else mentioned the new M&P shield. These are my top 4 subcompacts I'm looking into.

I am not a huge fan of Taurus. Personally, I carry a Kimber UC II .45 because of its smaller size. My other gun is an XD-45 that i like also. I prefer my Kimber though. I carry these because I prefer single action over double action.

I concealed carry my 1911 and honestly haven't found something that feels slimmer/better in my belt or hand (insert "that's what she said" joke here). Most people dismiss them because they're typically seen in full size but I'd be interested to fire a concealed carry version (I've only held them, mine is full size (another joke if you want)). Very thin and not much to snag upon drawing

The problem I've found with my kimber pro-carry is the weight.
