Anyone have a recommendation for a Security system that's easy to install on a 2012 Tacoma? If you've put one in that you can recommend I would appreciate details. Thanks

My dad used to install them 25+ years ago and he said they were a total pita and took a long long time. Keep in mind that was a long time ago, I'm sure newer cars would be even worse.

I bought a new 2002 Tacoma, and later a new 2006, and both did not come with factory security systems. I bought Toyota's factory kits for each truck and installed them myself in less than an hour. They're built for the truck and are all plug-and-play into the truck's existing wiring. I'm by no means an electrician, and I found them easy. They come with complete instructions w/ pictures. Here's the one for your truck (click the link): VIP Security System RS3200Plus & GBS

Yes, you're absolutely correct! Researched the PYTHON 991 with autostart and the instructions are unbelievably complex. You also better understand resistance etc because looks like you"ll need extra diodes and, programming modules, SPDT's and additional switches.
Nightmare and certainly beyond my expertise. Hate the idea of anyone pulling my truck apart so I'm looking at the Toyota VIP system recommended by another Member in this post. UNFORTUNATELY, I just go the dash and panels all back together after a head unit install...blast it...and would have remove it to run more wires back there. Doubt there's room.

    From the above link:

    "VIP Security System
    RS3200Plus & GBS (PT398-35090)

The VIP RS3200Plus (Vehicle Intrusion Protection) is a complete vehicle security system with alarm and glass breakage sensor for vehicles that already have keyless entry with remote lock/unlock. When equipped with the VIP RS3200, the vehicle’s security system is activated immediately if the glass is broken or if forced entry of a side door (or the trunk) is attempted. Includes a wide range of security and convenience features including automatic rearming and relocking, door ajar warning, interior light activation, panic alarm, rolling code technology and disabling of the starter.
Notes: For vehicles with keyless entry."

    I'd consider that.

Just install a kill switch. I just spliced into my buddy's blinker system and made it so you have to have the blinker on to have any power get to the starter. No need for any switches or wiring on the inside of the truck. Easy install and very effective!
