2nd gen sr5 compass display install question

    I have an 08 sr5 DCLB and it has a garage door opener holder but no compass display. I have heard that if you don't have this unit stock that there may be a way to install one. I bought a display unit and realized that the garage door cubby wont hold the unit (obviously) but that the pigtail for the unit isnot in the cubby, meaning i probably cant just buy a door for the compartment and plug this thing in. The pigtail For the temp sensor is supposedly on the brace in front of the radiator, but I don't have that either. Would it be worth it to try to install this unit in my truck, or would something like a scan gauge be easier/cheaper?

    Any input on this would be great.
