Lesson Learned

That has nothing to do with the chip or transponder. A Toyota without a chipped key will not allow the doors to be locked with the doors open and a key in the ignition either. They did this even before they had chipped keys. It is to prevent you from locking the keys inside the car.

You can lay the keys inside the car and lock the doors however.

 

Since no one else wants to answer. That is a plain key without a chip.

 

I've done that more than once, which is why I now carry non-chipped spare in my wallet just to open the door.

 

Not a hell of a lot going on so ... 2011 right?

you're right $210 for everything I had done was not too bad...can't believe what some delears have charged to have this done
