Speedo still not working...HELP

Hey guys...I am still having the issues with my speed odometer not working, the brake, abs, and check engine light all on. Checked fuses. Pulled cluster out to check all connections. I don't understand because the tach works, but no speedo. WTH! PLEASE HELP!!

 

that sucks, i can only state to check wires at the other end, at the t-case or tranny or wheels or wherever the speed sensor is. check the codes see if they say anything

 

It is probably the IGN 1 or 2 fuse behind the little cubby hole.

 

Well, I can't seem to find a speed sensor as crazy as it sounds. And I've checked IGN 1 and 2 fuses, both good. It wasn't recently lifted. I'm baffled!

 

So if one goes bad, the speedo would stop working?? Those things aren't cheap!

So your tachs still works right? All gauge lights work. Just where your mileage read out does not.

 

That's right. Only the speedo and mileage is not working...
Tach, temp, fuel gauges working. No codes on scanner.

 

Did you do the gauge mod?

I had the same symptoms on my '99 Ranger, it was the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Fortunately for that truck the part was $12 and took about 5 minutes to replace, one bolt held it on the differential. My friend had the same issue on his Chrysler 300, it had I think 3 sensors and they were expensive.

 

I had a similar issue a while back, except my fan/ac, windows, interior lights, gage lights, and rear view auto dimming didn't work! I found that the 10A ign 2 (if I remember correctly) fuse had blown....i didn't see it until I actually pulled the fuse out and held it up to the light.....replaced the fuse and everything worked again

It happened when I did my fog lights on anytime mod....I guess I shorted out that circuit when I accidentally stuck my jumper wire into the wrong connector.

 

I had that problem and I thought it was the wheel speed sensor, I took it to the dealer and it was the wire conected to it when i lifted it I guess i pulled on it a little too hard, it was only like 150 bucks to have them fix it, part was like 90 bucks, they allready had it in the shop so I justhad them do it for 60 bucks, problem fixed..

 

I just looked at the prints and it could be the IG1 Fuse or the connectors going to the ecu for the skid control etc and it could possibly be an issue with one or more wheel speed sensors.

 

The techstream software would probably pinpoint which sensor was at fault and allow you to confirm there is nothing wrong with the gauge cluster by actuating each gauge needle and light if you wanted. Otherwise you can use the shop manual and multimeter to perform a resistance check on each individual wheel speed sensor.

Hopefully none of the wiring got pinched when you go the lift installed...there are 2-3 various cable bundles in the rear, and the only protection is some flex loom.

 

What is techstream software??

ok, I just Google it. This is something a dealer or repair shop would have...which is whom I'm trying to stay away from!! lol
