I've had my Afe CAI for maybe 3 months and the bolts that hold the top plate on just keep rattling off? Originaly had 6 bolts now I have 2. Also while idling it vibrates and you can hear it in the cab.

And people wonder why these abortions are badmouthed all the time.

They don't filter worth a shit.
They bring hot underhood air into the engine, the stock intake is a cold air intake.
The stock intake flows more air than any normally-aspirated engine can use.

Your problem is because the engine vibrates in it's mounts, and the "CAI" is attached to the wheel well. The engine vibration is transmitted through the intake into the body.

Only thing you can do is use BLUE (not red) loctite on the bolts... but you really should consider putting the stock intake back on.

Wolfpack is correct my cai is a true cai. It pulls air out of the factory location. My cai did not come with a bolt to bolt the box in? Just the rubber spacer.

Nevermin I read that wrong. I think im going to use some double sided tape and foam to keep it from vibrating. The box is barely touching another bolt on th fender and tha is why it is vibrating. Also where can I buy new bolts for that top plte?

FYI, the AFE is the OEM version of the 09 and older TRD CAI...it draws air from the same fender location as the stock setup. Main difference is sound and reusable filter.

Possibly. This particular CAI should be mounted on bushings to control vibration. OP, have you checked to ensure bushings are in place?

More or less. I'd try to get a handle on the vibration first though.

If you have any nut and bolt specialty places they can order them in. I got a box of 100 stainless with hex head for 12$ I think it was.
