I have a 09 Taco, 43k. I went to start my truck today to find the battery dead, which was strange because I just put in a new one as prevenative maintainance because I just installed a winch and offroad lights. Well, I figured out the reason the battery died is because I foolishly left my offroad lights on for an extended amount of time (they have covers over them so I didnt know they were on).

I got a jump start and wen to Autozone later in the day to have them test the battery just to make sure all was well. They said the battery is good, but the alternator needs to be replaced.

Next issue, My AC sucks. This weekend is the first time I have ever used it since I bought the truck 8 months ago. If I am idling it pretty much blows hot air, if I am driving at freeway speeds it gets better.

I recently did some mudding and I have no doubt the alternator and AC compressor were exposed to water. Another interesting thing is after I washed down my engine bay and undercarriage last week , I found my AC condensor to be dripping alot of water out of it, even though I had not been using the AC. And it was definitely dripping out of the condensor hose. Not just water dripping off the under carriage from washing it.

Any thoughts on if the mud and water probably messed up my AC system and possibly alternator? And maybe my dead battery was just coincidental timing?

The mud would not have had an impact on the compressor, it's not vented, but you may have plugged part of your condensor in front of the radiator, and maybe damaged the fan clutch.

Blowing hot at idle would be expected if there is no air flow through the condensor.
The winch and off road lights are not helping that.

Not enough air flow = Hot Air.
