So I'm running 265/65/17 tires stock and I was curious if I were to upgrade to 285/65/17 will those tires clear my current stock set up? also Would 265/65/17 look good with a 3" lift? I might consider 285/65/17 with a 6" lift no sure yet. I used to have a 97 4runner with 3" lift on 33's and I loved the look of that. Any help or even pictures would be great thanks! Also would I have to regear for 285/65/17?? and what gears would that be?

285/75r17 on stock wheels will rub like crazy (including your UCAs) and without a lift if you turned you would end up ripping your fenders off

on 3" of lift, its completely up to individual taste as far as the looks go comparing 265/75 and 285/75. Theres tons of members running those sizes though, so go check em out and decide for yourself! :D

I'm runnng 265/75r16's on my 3" and am fine with the looks. Though I might be upgrading soon....

Can you post a picture of what it looks like? I'm curious to see, and also how is the power and mileage when your lifted? What kit did you use? I'm planning to do one on a budget later on.

285's will rub. Check out the Wheels and Tires section of the forum for many threads with information similar to what you are asking.

I am running 265/70R17's with 2" of lift. Check my build page (linked in my sig) for photos.
