Looking to get a set of step bars for my truck but not sure which ones. I'm going to go with black but there are so many choices. Don't really care on price I just want the best and most durable ones out there. Any suggestions on which ones and where to buy them from? Thanks in advance!

If you plan on going off road skip the step bars & get sliders. Step bars are not durable in off road situations & I have seen people hang up their trucks on rocks with them & bend them.
If not going off road NFab makes some nice looking ones.

I'd get some OEM steps. Those things are always for sale in the B/S/T section here.

My advice would be the Westin bars. I've had them on my truck since 2007. With a yearly application of Mothers Black to Back on the entire tube they still look like new. The only area that shows wear is the rear support from flying rocks going down gravel roads...nothing a small brush and gloss black Rustoleom paint can't handle. The below picture shows how the black powdercoat holds up after 5 years...

What about nfabs or smitty built. I kind of like the design. Anyone have good luck with these?

I've got a pair of "predator step bars" (look just like nfabs only without the logo) powdercoated black off of a 2012. I'm considering taking them off, could use the cash. I'm in cleveland, let me know if you're interested

Wait, realized you have a DCLB, they probably wouldn't fit....but still if you're interested let me know.

I have had my RBP step bars for over 2 years, solid bars with no problems! Like an earlier post said...not for rock crawling or serious off-road! I wish I had a reason to buy sliders...but not in S. Florida!!

those look pretty good. That's kind of the look i'm looking for. Don't really need sliders as I'm probably not going to do a bunch of serious wheeling. Too bad there isn't a decent off-road store around here to check these out in person. Anyone know of a good shop in Ohio that would carry these?

Checkout out Avid Offroad step bars. I'm really pleased with mine.

Iv'e got the nfabs. I love the look and they seem to be holding up very well so far. I think they look really really good on a lifted tacoma (can't wait to get to that point).

how much did those run? are they powder coated? I'll need some kind of coverage with all the salt they put on the roads here during the winter months.

The list price on the Avid website is $275.00 but Avid offers a discount code to TW members. Just drop a note to Brandon and he will hook you up.

BTW, Brandon at Avid was great to work with. Great communication.

As for paint I initially intended to powder coat them but I was chomping at the bit to get them installed so I opted to go with Rustoleum Truck Bedliner. So far it is holding up nicely.

My powder coated black bars rusted in one season in Vt.
I took them off this summer, sanded off all the rust, used rust inhibitor primer than rustoleum bed coating spray 2 coats..
I also did the hangers & swapped out the hardware with Stainless steel.
They look awesome & have a slight grippy surface.
One afternoon & $30 bucks for the spray.
It has held up great for the last 3 months, hard as a rock, no chipping or peeling.
I also sealed the endcaps & step pads with a small bead of silicone, wiped it down before I sprayed.
