Some of you may remember me from years ago on Toyota Nation. Well.... life has changed in many ways since then, and I am back in the market for a new 2012 coma. At first, I was very turned off by the new grill, but then I embraced it - almost overnight. I am in research mode right now, living in the Dallas area, putting some pieces together. Just to give you guys a glimpse at what I am looking at...

2012 DCLB V6 (I'm not too sure I'll need 4x4 in Texas - this place is so damned flat) so possibly 4x2. (I like the LB version, but have yet to see a 2012 DCLB with a 6")

    My factory options will be:
MGM - damn this looks good. I've done the blacked out taco before, so I'm going in a new direction.
    Sport package
    Nav package
    Tow Package
Predator Tube Steps (unless bought and installed cheaper elsewhere)

    Absolute Mods:
    CHLM
Grillcraft mesh upper and lower (the skull will return - duh)
Magnaflow exhaust 3" pipe, 4" tip (same I had on my '07)
Cold Air Intake (or other recommended intake)

Here is where I may need some guidance - and I know I can search for each item, but I'm just tossin this out there because maybe one of you know a thread in particular that can answer my questions.

Lift. on my 07' I only did a 3" toytec with AAL. - This time I want a 6" and this is a new area for me. Aside from brand, (keep in mind I'm in Texas, and won't be doing ANY type of crawling or something that would be called such) - offroading near me is just that - off-road. dirt roads.

Which are the better lifts out there, I know some of it is personal opinion, and of course price pays a factor, I know of Fabtech, Procomp, and Tuff Country. any recommendations?

    This was me...

Just about everyone who ends up with a 2wd instead of a 4wd will usually regret it at some point during the ownership, regardless if they live in flat terrain or not :cookiemonster:

OME 3" lift with 885 coils. OME Shocks with TSB 1.5 AAL. 285/75/16 KM2s. XD Hoss 16" wheels. DDM Tuning 6000K HIDs, H10 6000K Fogs. BHLM. Debaged. 20% tint on front windows.
Here's a suggestion for a lift higher than 3" Because you didn't specify what size tire you plan on running... The RCD 4" is really nice IMO for a drop bracket lift.

Unless all you do is pound the pavement, I would vote for 4wd. Texas is far from flat, you just need to get out of Dallas... lol

    Welcome to TW

Hey Kevin, I remember you from TN (I was tucsontaco at the time). There's an active group of Tacoma Texans in the DFW area that go wheeling, so if you're interested in that I'd get the 4x4. Other than that it is flat out here, ESP near the coast.

thanks for the feedback guys - I've had the same thoughts about having it whether I "need" it or not. so you've helped me in that regard.

As far as the tires go - I remember having decent gas mileage with my 3" toytec and running to cooper discoverer stt 33" (with exhaust) so I don't think I want to go much bigger than that - maybe something that equates roughly into 34" but again, I need to do some homework on the lifts I know what will fit and what won't - it's just a matter of eye candy almost :) I'm trying to find some DCLB's with 6" lifts and 33" tires vs 35" tires. I also know gas mileage goes down quite a bit from 33-35.
